Make 'em work for it!

Last week I issued a challenge via Twitter: a free ice cream for the first person to show up and sing, in its entirety, "Glitter and Be Gay" from the problematic Bernstein/Hellman operetta Candide. I saw some tweeting about the challenge and so was aware that a few people were preparing to come down and sing. On Aug 21 we were met by Arianna (@operakitty on Twitter) who was ready to work. Unfortunately the truck's generator crapped out and we had to go back to Greenpoint. Two hours later, in the 95 degree heat, we were back and so was Arianna.
And so- two hours after she was ready to sing (in the way of any "real" audition, in which the applicant's comfort is rarely a consideration!) she let us have it. How fun to watch a crowd appear. They had no idea why this young lady would be singing outside an ice cream truck... too silly. Thank you for being such a great sport, Arianna! I hope you liked your cone and t-shirt. Pardon my singing along in the video...
